07Jun Aston Martin Scoop the World Car Design Award
Earlier this month the outcomes of the annual World Auto Awards had been announced at a press conference in New York in the course of the International Auto show. The awards are eagerly awaited every year by members of the motoring business and in particular members of the luxury car business.
The Awards have four various categories world vehicle of the year, world vehicle style of the year, world performance automobile and world green auto. The organisation prides itself in being objective, credible and being able to carry out their judgements with the utmost integrity. Judging is carried out each and every year by 60 diverse Jurors all of which are motor journalists from around the world, many of which represent the world’s largest and leading motoring outlet countries.
This year Aston Martin scooped the prestigious award of World Vehicle Design of the Year for their Rapide model. The Aston Martin Rapide was designed by the British designer Marek Reichman who is currently employed as the company’s director of design. In the past Reichman has worked on several redesigns of well-known vehicles such as the Landrover and has developed a lot of of today’s most unique and attractive vehicles such as the Rolls Royce Phantom and the Aston Martin DBS. The British car was developed in Reichmans studio in Warwickshire and beat over 50 distinct makes and models from around the world.
The Rapide is a wonderful example of a high performance five door sports saloon and was originally designed and presented back in 2006 as a idea auto but later became readily obtainable from the corporation in 2010.
Cars are judged extensively before every individual judge submits their findings. Over twenty diverse separate categories are listed with each receiving a mark between one and ten depending on findings. Judges are responsible also for nominating cars to the awards committee along with the two rounds of voting.
Past models that have won the World Vehicle Design of the year are the Audi TT, Audi R8, Fiat 500 and the Chevrolet Camaro.
Nominations are already about to start becoming scrutinised and collected for next years event which will see judges testing vehicles later ready for next years assessment.
